The comedy star Ingo Appelt describes himself and his programme, “Men Need A Smack”, as follows: “I am the super nanny for despairing men”. For the man with the distinctive haircut and sharp tongue, his fellow males are a catastrophe of civilisation, and they only get up to speed when they mess things up or bellow at and bully those around them. This has to stop and men finally have to get what they have long deserved – a real bashing.
And if anyone is the true master of the sweeping blow, then it is definitely the terminator of German comedy, Ingo Appelt. The man from Essen has been one of Germany's top comedians for 15 years. With his sophisticated, black humour and his audacious way of tackling taboo topics head on, Appelt consistently enthuses his public. And at his performances, you have to be ready for that, for the man from the Ruhr does not mince his words and tells everyone exactly how it is.
