Hilfe, Hochzeit!

Anticipation is also a pleasure – particularly if the anticipation relates to your own wedding! The fact that the final days before taking your vows can also be catastrophic, nerve-wracking and almost fatal is revealed in the new seven-part Sat.1 comedy series, "Hilfe, Hochzeit! – Die schlimmste Woche meines Lebens", with Christoph Maria Herbst in lead role of the groom to be.

The amicably-innocuous bank employee, Joachim Witte (Christoph Maria Herbst), and his charming fiancée, Anna von Schanz (Ulrike C. Tscharre), plan to wed – and have quite a lot left to organize one week before the big day. Unfortunately, everything that can possibly go wrong seems to go wrong in the course of these seven days, the week developing into a nightmare of Titan proportions from one day to the next. And Joachim is only trying to do the right thing…

Part of Joachim’s nightmare is Judith Schmidt (Eva Löbau), a colleague at the bank, who is totally obsessed by Joachim and does everything in her power to prevent the wedding from taking place. And things don’t go as smoothly with his elegant parents-in-law (Uwe Friedrichsen and Peggy Lukac) as anticipated. Joachim’s sycophantic attempts to make a good impression fail to make an impact. Hardly surprising, considering Joachim ends up in bed with his mother-in-law, manages to hit on Anna’s sister, Kathi (Anna Fischer), is to blame for Anna’s grandmother (Bibiana Zeller) ending up in hospital and – worse still – he manages to even kill the beloved family dog. And his father’s new girlfriend, who earns a living as a stripper, also fails to improve the relationship with Anna’s family. These, and a few more "trifles" ensure that the week before the wedding turns out to be the worst week in Joachim’s life.

The Worst Week Of My Life recounts the turbulent events of seven days blighted by catastrophe – from the Monday right up to the wedding day, Sunday – each day in one of the seven half-hour episodes portrayed with incredible wit and lots of black humor to boot…

The BRAINPOOL-produced comedy series is based on the BBC production, "The Worst Week Of My Life".

"Hilfe, Hochzeit! Die schlimmste Woche meines Lebens" was broadcast between April 13 and May 25, 2007, every Friday at 9:15 p.m. on Sat.1.
