Kinder, Kinder

Those who find children absolutely "cute" and believe that life with them is one big bowl of cherries, will learn a few home truths in the new RTL comedy series "Kinder, Kinder". The three sisters Jessica, Claudia and Katja show that life with kids can not only be wonderful, but also totally bizarre, surreal, hard work, complicated and – above all – incredibly funny.

Although the three women may be genetically in the same boat, their characters are separated by the seven seas of the world, who live in completely different private situations and have reached entirely different points in their respective lives. What unites them is the fact that all three are trying to cope with life with child and partner as best they can. "Kinder, Kinder" shows the crazy snapshots of day-to-day family lives and deals with questions such as whether there are actually any mentally-healthy babysitters, whether men are jealous of their girlfriend’s gynecologist and whether you can really have a wild time occasionally once you have had children. Anybody who has plans to have or has decided against, having kids will discover the reasons in "Kinder, Kinder".

28-year-old Jessica de Vries (Carolin Kebekus) is the youngest of the three sisters. She is a technical draftsman and earns a living creating assembly instructions for flat-pack wooden furniture. Her boyfriend Christian Rappel (Daniel Wiemer) is a long-term student and notoriously broke. To date, the couple’s life has been uncomplicated and carefree. But that all changes dramatically when Jessica discovers she is pregnant – with twins!
Jessica: “I want my old life back. Back then, the only time I used to throw up was when I’d had too many cocktails. Now, I can’t even drink… I just don’t want to turn into my sisters and their catalog families”.

31-year-old Claudia Ziegler-de Vries (Judith Pinnow), the middle sister, is married to sports journalist Robert Ziegler (Matthias Köberlin) and mother to three-month-old baby Zoe. Claudia is a police officer and categorically refuses to accept traditional role allocation within the family, something that results in countless differences between her and Robert. Robert does not want to have to constantly attend to Zoe in addition to his work and refuses to accept that life with a child brings certain restrictions and changes with it.
Claudia: “Just because we have a child does not mean that I can’t continue working. I just don’t want to look after my child day and night and ensure that dinner is on the table when “daddy” comes home from work.”

At 34, Katja Eumann (Dana Golombek) is the oldest of the sisters and has always been the goody-two-shoes among them. To the outside world, her life appears to be perfect: smart house, smart husband with political ambitions and a smart child who is already at school. But things are not as perfect as they seem: husband Andreas Eumann(Heinrich Schafmeister) not only fought the last election campaign on the streets, but also in the bed of his personal research assistant, and son Paul is more interested in his teacher’s breasts than in what she is trying to teach him. Katja would love to sweep all this under the suburban living room carpet, something that is simply impossible with her nosy sisters.
Katja: “If my son Paul wants to see his father, he has to look at an election campaign poster. My husband has fixed political principles that force him to behave like a total idiot.”

The de Vries family is held together by mother Marion (Kathrin Ackermann). However, some members of the family find it rather difficult to accept that the mother’s new partner is actually a girlfriend (Gitta Schweighöfer).

“Kinder, Kinder” was broadcast from April 27 to June 22, 2007 every Friday at 9:45 p.m. on RTL
