LiebesLeben
In the Romantic Comedy "LoveLife" five normal metropolitans prove, that a certain Harry was right in the end of the 80s when he told a surprised Sally, that men and women can’t just be friends. Twenty years later we know, that men and women not only can’t just be friends, they even get in the way of each other, always according to the motto: "You can’t live with them but you can’t shoot them either". But in the end they all want the same: finally to be happy!
With this comedy series couples, singles, recently separated ones and newly wed can amuse themselves about the daily clashes between man and woman, raised upon washing up, sex and life script. It’s about one-night-stands and long term relationships, about successful flirting and screwed up dates, about casual liaisons and bonds of friendship. In LoveLife five completely different people go on the tragic-comical run for happiness and love.
Afflicted by self-doubts Björn is fighting for the love and respect of his much too attractive girl friend Caren and parallel struggling with his persistent jealousy.
Björn: "I realize that Caren and I don’t exactly have the most relaxed relationship. I am kind of always worried I will lose her and that’s why I’m always so jealous, which only makes everything far worse".
Caren’s aim in life is to have none; any variation life offers is great, as long as she has fun. Her attitudes are often right opposite to the ones her boyfriend Björn has.
Caren: "My friend Verena always says: "Your relationship is a time bomb!" Now that is probably a little drastic, but there might be some truth to it. His jealousy really rattles me, that’s for sure".
Serie’s Beau Malte dissipates his energy with senseless affairs, whereas he is actually looking for the second big love in his life. Among fending off sex-starved women, he has also to take care of his depressive friend Edwin.
Edwin suffers not only from being single again but he also is smarting under his dominant ex wife and their clever eight years old daughter.
Malte: "Let’s say, it was never really much of a problem to bed women. My problem is more a case of getting rid of them again. Because I normally realize when I wake up in the morning that the woman cannot replace what I’ve rightfully lost: Christine".
Edwin: "Do you really want to hear this? ...I’m asking, because nobody wants to listen to it any more... well... after ten years of marriage, my wife Silvia left me and took our daughter Mareike with her. She said she was unable to love a man who had no goals in life, that was her reason. Now she is with some manager guy. To be honest, my daughter seems to have handled the divorce better than I have".
Finally there is also sweet Verena, who can’t understand why she hasn’t found her prince already, although she is already 27.
Verena: "I always used to think that I would one day deliver a package to my knight in shining armor. But now I’ve been delivering packages for almost three years and still haven’t encountered my dream man behind one of the doors. I mean, it’s not asking too much to want a man who looks good, is charming and witty, has a little money and would never cheat on you, is it?"
Sanne knows them all and Sanne knows everything. The manic bar keeper comments in a cheeky way the trials of Malte, Björn, Caren, Edwin and Verena, to get their love life going. Sanne herself has closed this matter long ago.
Sanne: "How desperate do you have to be?"
LoveLife offers touching, entertaining stories about the questions, we all have: Are men decent fellows and women just bitches? How to find the right partner in the jungle of night life? Why the others are always better off than I am?
LoveLife can’t give you a real answer to any of those questions. But anyhow the way to find a possible answer is paved with laughter and bittersweet pain.
