THE BÜLENT CEYLAN SHOW

Is he a Turkish German or a Germanised Turk? It doesn’t really matter. Comedian Bülent Ceylan cleverly pokes fun at both German and Turkish characteristics and prejudices. The Mannheim native won the hearts of comedy fans across Germany years ago with his local dialect and charming sense of humour. His comedy tours are sold out, and his live TV show has a huge viewing audience. The greatest honour came in 2011, when this rock star among comedians won his first “Deutsche Comedypreis” (“German Comedy Award”) for best comedian. Die Bülent Ceylan Show is currently nominated for the prestigious Adolf-Grimme-Preis (“Adolf Grimme Award”) in German television.

Now, this exceptional performer is starting the next season of "Die Bülent Ceylan Show" with six new episodes on RTL. After the outstanding success of the first season in February 2011 – an average of 24 per cent of young viewers (ages 14-49) watched the hilarious series from Cologne – and will have a lot to laugh about this year as well. Every Saturday, fans can look forward to the latest edition of “das gesamte Universum des Bülent Ceylan” (“the universe of Bülent Ceylan”). Or as Mompfred would say, “If you want to laugh harder, just look in the mirror!”

The 35-year old comedian comments on current events and explores the cultural issues of everyday German-Turkish life. No topic is too taboo. Of course, the show isn’t complete without Bülent's most popular characters, like Mompfred, Harald, Aslan, Hasan and Anneliese, who “think about sex” among other things. He also creates surprising parodies of movies and advertisements, like “Türk der Karibik” (“Turk of the Caribbean”) and “Schkräbbel (Mannheimer Special-Ausgabe)” (“Scrabble (Special Mannheim Edition))”. He is also an outstanding host, inviting friends and fellow comedians to join him on the show. Guests include Xavier Naidoo, Martin Rütter, the comedy duo Badesalz, Kaya Yanar and comedian Dave Davis (“Motombo”).

Viewers can look forward to seeing more secret moments in Bülent's private life. For the first time, the comedian will answer viewer questions in the form of clips. He responds to questions like “Has success changed Bülent?” (if you don’t count the autograph signing organised for his wife) or “Can Bülent walk down the street without being recognised?” (sure – in a rabbit costume...).

“Die Bülent Ceylan Show” offers the entire spectrum – the latest stand-up comics, parodies and outrageous pranks. The popular comedian from Mannheim does it all, and the audience loves it. With so many laughs, there won't be a dry eye in the house.

“Die Bülent Ceylan Show” – season two with six episodes starts Saturday, 10 March 2012 at 22.15
