Biography
Christian Ulmen was born in Neuwied on September 22, 1975 and grew up in Hamburg.
He has been living in Berlin since early 1999. Between July 1988 and June 1994, he compiled radio contributions for Radio Hamburg, Radio 107 and OK-Radio and produced TV and radio contributions for Offener Kanal in Hamburg. His journalistic talent was rewarded in 1992 by RTL, who presented him with the "Junior Reporter Award". As a "Disney & Co." presenter on RTL, Christian wowed Germany’s children between June 1994 and June 1995 while simultaneously graduating from high school.
Between 1996 and 1999, Christian Ulmen hosted, among other things, the MTV shows "MTV Hot" and "MTV Alarm" and provided reports for various special programs.
From April 1999 to February 2000, Christian Ulmen was editor and presenter at Radio Fritz.
Following a one-year absence from MTV, Christian presented his own show, "MTV Unter Ulmen", from 2000 through 2003 at the MTV Ackerstraße studio in Berlin, which he also produced himself.
2003 saw him appearing in his first major movie role as the lead in the movie, "Herr Lehmann" (Mr. Lehmann, directed by Leander Haussmann).
He was also involved in the movie production "Verschwende deine Jungend" (Waste Your Youth, directed by Benjamin Quabeck), in the ZDF TV movie series "Rosa Roth" and in the ProSieben TV movie "Hans im Glück".
He received the Bavarian Television Award 2004 for his performance as Herr Lehmann.
Christian Ulmen has again been a presenter with MTV since April 2004.
From January 2005, Christian Ulmen has been starring in the BRAINPOOL real-life comedy "Mein neuer Freund" (My New Best Friend). In the eight episodes, the respective candidates must convince their friends and family that Christian Ulmen (in changing roles) is their new best friend, with a € 10,000 reward for those that successfully achieve this objective.
Also in 2005, Christian Ulmen starred in the movies "FC Venus" (directed by:Ute Wieland) and "Elementarteilchen" (directed by: Oskar Roehler).
From March 26 to May 7, 2007, Christian Ulmen appeared as Dr. Max Munzl in "Dr. Psycho" every Monday at 9:15 p.m. Shooting for Season 2 will be starting this year.
