Biography
Oliver Pocher was born in Hanover on February 18, 1978.
Even during his training as an insurance administrator, he worked as a DJ and show host for various radio stations and at trade fairs. As a comedian, he has toured Germany with the "Holla-Bolla" theater group.
Oliver Pocher first created a furore in the media in 1998 with his appearance at the "Backstreet Boys" press conference. In front of countless journalists, he performed "Everybody", with the intention of "applying to become a member" of the boy band.
His television career started with the "Hans Meiser" show on September 29, 1999. He beat five other candidates to present a guest show on "INTERAKTIV" with VIVA host Milka.
Since November 15, 1999, he has been an official part of the VIVA VJ team, presenting, in rotation with his VIVA colleagues, the shows "Was geht ab?" (What’s up?), "Planet VIVA", "Chartsurfer" as well as "INTERAKTIV".
In August 2000, Oliver Pocher penned his first stand-up comedy program, featuring with it on, among others, the "Harald Schmidt Show" and the "Quatsch Comedy Club" (Nonsense Comedy Club).
From February 2002 until December 2002, Oliver Pocher has been on air with "Alles Pocher,... oder was?" (Everything Pocher… got it?). In the "only true youth TV magazine", he presented – every Saturday at 7 p.m. on VIVA – what the youth of today really want to know.
In the summer of 2002, he appeared as one of the leads in the 13-part ARD early evening series "Sternenfänger" (Star Catcher), playing a radio show presenter.
Since April 2003, the presenter and comedian has been accessible to his audience in "rent a Pocher". Anybody could rent the multi-talented guy - for free, week in, week out, every Thursday at 11:15 p.m. on ProSieben.
In 2004, Oliver Pocher spoke the german protagonist-voice of the sucessfull computer game "Leisure Suit Larry".
In several VIVA TV-Specials such as "Trash Top 100" he appeared as presenter and in addition to this as a live reporter he was part of the "TV total"-Event-Shows" like "Wok WM", "showjumping" and "highdiving".
In April 2005, Oliver Pocher launched his successful "‘It’s my life’ – Aus dem Leben eines B-Promis" (From the Life of a B Celebrity) live tour, for which he received the "Comet 2005" Music Award for "Best Live Comedy".
In October 2005, entertainer Oliver Pocher asked celebrities to come and dance on ProSieben in "Das große ProSieben Tanzturnier" (The Grand ProSieben Dance Contest).
For the 2006 Soccer World Cup in Germany, he hosted the one-hour live show "Pocher’s World Cup Countdown" on ProSieben.
On 16 September 2006, Oliver Pocher presented "The Great ProSieben National Youth Games". Together with his co-presenter Elton, he was able to get ten celebrity participants (including Ralf Richter, Jana Ina und Smudo) to produce top sporting performances. 15.5 percent (1.45 m) of 14 to 49-year-old viewers watched the live event. Among 14 to 29 year olds, the figure was even 28.7 percent.
Together with Oli Petszokat, Oliver Pocher presented the "Gameshow-Marathon" in early 2007. On April 12, 2007, he also celebrated his movie debut as Simon Peters in "Vollidiot".
