Biography
Sarah Kuttner was born on 29 January 1979 in the East Berlin district of Friedrichshain. Following her university entrance exams, Sarah lived in London for a while, working as a saleswoman in a Camden second-hand shop, giving German lessons to the British and taking care of the children of an extended Indian-Scottish family. Sarah made contact with the British SPIEGEL branch, where she did a work placement. She turned down the offer of full employment in order to return to Germany.
Back in Berlin, Sarah Kuttner started a work placement at Radio FRITZ. Subsequently, she worked there as freelancer, doing reports, interviews, CD and event critiques.
In November 2001, Sarah took part in a VIVA Casting and was successful against the other competitors.
In the years that followed, Sarah created the image of the "decidedly different VIVA presenter": she characterised a completely new presenting style, her interviews were charming, but critical, and the world's major stars came in quick succession.
There followed appearances in all appropriate TV formats, presentations at the largest youth exhibition "YOU", interviews with famous people such as Ozzy Osbourne, Mariah Carey, Franz Müntefering, Destiny’s Child and a wisdom tooth extraction, which has already become legendary, during the "Album Charts" programme. In spring 2004, Sarah Kuttner also presented the preliminary decision of the "Eurovision Song Contest".
Sarah Kuttner started her own evening show "Sarah Kuttner – Die Show" on 2 August 2004 on VIVA. Since 13 September 2005, the second series has been running under the title "Kuttner." on MTV. Her personality show is devoted to contemporary everyday and pop culture, and the discussion of youth-relevant topics. She is supported by her studio sidekick Sven Schumacher and her four-piece studio band.
2006 Sarah’s book Das oblatendünne Eis des halben Zweidrittelwissens was published. It contains Sarah’s columns that were originally issued in the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung and in the magazine Musikexpress. In the same year, she was an ARD World Cup reporter and provided the German voice in the lead role of the American animated film "Die Rotkäppchenverschwörung".
Her second book of columns, Die anstrengende Daueranwesenheit der Gegenwart was published in March 2007.
