Starting from the “Tower of Power” on a stir-fry pan: Stefan Raab’s “TV total Wok World Championship 2008” from Altenberg in the Erz Mountains

Stefan Raab’s spectacular wok race on one of Europe’s most tricky race tracks: the “TV total Wok World Championship 2008” from the Altenberg in the Erz Mountains with Georg Hackl, Joey Kelly, Sven Hannawald, Tom Gerhardt, Sven Ottke and of course Stefan Raab on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at 8:15 p.m. live on ProSieben.

It’s Wok Time! With his “TV total Wok World Championship”, Stefan Raab is conquering new territory. This year’s Wok World Championship will be held in, and broadcast from, the beautiful Erz Mountains. The reigning Wok World Champions – Georg “Wokl” Hackl Schorsch, Joey Kelly, former skiing ace Sven Hannawald, Olympic bob-sleigh winner Sandra Kiriasis, wok veteran Elton, “Janitor Krause” Tom Gerhardt, multiple World Boxing Champion Sven Ottke, SSDSDSSWEMUGABRTLAD winner Stefanie Heinzmann and wok racing inventor Stefan Raab – will be battling it out to see who wins the various titles in the one-man and four-man woks on the Altenberg bob-sleigh run. They are risking it all on the “Tower of Power”, the high-rise Altenberg run, which is certain to really speed things up as the woks and their celebrity “pilots” descend the extreme slope of this fabulous course. The high-rise course in Altenberg, with a maximum slope of 15 percent, 18 bends and a 122-meter height drop along the 1413-meter run, is considered by many winter sportsmen to be one of Europe’s most difficult.

Which new developments is the young sport of wok racing bringing with it this year? Each year, the team’s mechanics work flat out in the pit stops to create the perfect kitchen utensil – heating, polishing, grinding and waxing the rice pans to within an inch of their lives. The four-man woks regularly achieve speeds of far more than 100 km/h. Always at the forefront of the art of wok tuning to date: the “World Wok Union” Chairman, Stefan Raab.

Performing live on stage in Altenberg will be Fettes Brot with “Bettina, zieh’ Dir bitte etwas an”, firing on the audience and Stefanie Heinzmann, whose first album will be coming out on March 7.

Tickets are now available on: Tickets (standing) cost € 26.50 each (price including VAT and excluding handling charge and postage).
