Lena wins the "Best German Act" category at the 2011 MTV EMAs
Lena has come out on top against Clueso, Beatsteaks, Culcha Candela und Frida Goldin in the Online Voting for the "Best German Act"
The winners of the 2011 MTV EMAs have been selected! Lena was able to assert herself against her competitors Clueso, Beatsteaks, Culcha Candela and Frida Gold in the national Online Voting competition, and can now receive the award in the "Best German Act" category. The presenter of the 2011 MTV EMAs in Belfast will be singer Selena Gomez. MTV and VIVA will broadcast the show live from Belfast at 8 pm on November 6th 2011.
A brief look back: It all began in spring 2010. After 28 long years, Lena captured the hearts of the European television viewers and was the second German contestant ever to win the Eurovision Song Contest. She instantly made it onto the international hitlist with both her ESC winning song "Satellite" and her debut album "My Cassette Player". Her number-one single and her number-one album quickly gained double-platinum status in Germany alone. Numerous awards followed. Now Lena can also look forward to an MTV EMA as "Best German Act"! Lena is delighted with her victory: "What an honour, sensational, I'm incredibly pleased! Lena now has the great chance to represent Europe with the label "Best Worldwide Act". Fans have until October 24th to vote for their favourite European artist at www.mtvema.com. The European winner will then compete against four further nominees from Latin America, North America, Asia Pacific and Africa / India / the Middle-East for the title of " Best Worldwide Act". This category showcases the whole musical variety of the 2011 MTV EMAs.
