This year, Udo Jürgens says "Danke Anke!"

For Anke Engelke, this year’s "Danke Anke!" ("Thanks, Anke!") Christmas party will be an especially joyful celebration. For the fifth year in a row, on December 22, 2002, at 8:15 p.m. on Sat. 1 television, she will host two hours of dazzling entertainment with well-known stars, fabulous music and exciting surprises.

Anke Engelke has long looked forward to being reunited with an old acquaintance and one of the few German superstars: Pop legend Udo Jürgens will honor her with his presence. The two stars have known each other since the 1970s, when Anke Engelke performed alongside Udo Jürgens in one of her first appearances as a child star. Naturally, they will celebrate this charming revival by performing a musical number together!

And as if that weren’t enough of a musical highlight for one evening: This soul man took the hearts of women the world over by storm with his velvet voice and his love songs – Lionel Richie will sing Anke Engelke’s personal favorite ballad, “Three Times a Lady“ live. Thanks a million, Lionel!

Anyone who may still be searching for the perfect Christmas gift will strike gold with Anke: Together with the Grande Dame of German actresses, Uschi Glas, Anke will present some (not entirely serious) last minute gift ideas.

In addition, TV judge Barbara Salesch will pay Anke a visit, and surprise viewers with her own artistic talents!
And the shooting star of German pop music, Ben, will drop by, and has promised to dance for Anke!

In the days leading up to Christmas, Anke Engelke snooped around in the studios of some of her show business colleagues, and in "Danke Anke!", she will show us some of what she discovered behind the scenes of the shows hosted by Harald Schmidt and Stefan Raab. The young actor and comedian Axel Stein will bring the festive atmosphere with him to the Christmas market. Anke will enjoy herself royally with her comedy colleague Bastian Pastewka – just as they did in their old "Wochenshow" days.
And a special highlight: Anke Engelke experienced the Christmas season in New York.

The house band in the studio this year is a combo made up of Achim Hagemann (pianist for Hape Kerkeling) and Simone Sonnenschein (Piet Klocke’s saxophone player).
