BRAINPOOL is co-producer of the German qualifying competition for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö

“Eurovision Song Contest 2013 – Unser Song für Malmö” is the name of the show on 14 February that will decide who represents Germany at the ESC in Sweden. Since 2010, BRAINPOOL has produced the German qualifying shows for the Eurovision Song Contest: “Unser Star für Oslo”, “Unser Song für Deutschland” and “Unser Star für Baku”. In 2011, BRAINPOOL played a major role in the production of the ESC in Düsseldorf, which received several awards. This year, BRAINPOOL was the official production partner of the ESC in Baku/Azerbaijan. The team responsible for the internationally successful ESC in Düsseldorf in 2011 will also be involved in the 2013 German qualifying competition. Eight to twelve prominent acts will perform their own songs at the TUI Arena in Hanover for an audience of around 11,000 people. The two-hour live event will be broadcast on Das Erste at 8.15 p.m.

A three-phase voting process is used to choose the winner of the competition. One-third of the votes come from nine of ARD’s pop and youth radio stations. In the week leading up to the show, listeners can vote for their favourites online. Bayern 3, Bremen Vier, 1LIVE (WDR), Fritz (RBB), HR 3, MDR Jump, NDR 2, SR 1 Europawelle and SWR3 will present the artists and songs during their regularly scheduled programming. Radio representatives will announce the results of this voting live during the show on 14 February. TV viewers are responsible for another one-third of the votes, which they can submit via phone and text message. The last one-third of the votes is given by a panel of five judges, all well-known entertainment and music experts.

The competitors are currently being chosen by a seven-person committee (record labels, NDR and BRAINPOOL). NDR will announce the participants and hosts at a later time.

“Eurovision Song Contest 2013 – Unser Song für Malmö” is a production of NDR in co-operation with BRAINPOOL.
