Unser Lied für Stockholm [Our Song for Stockholm]

On Thursday, February 25th, 4.47 million viewers watched the live "Eurovision Song Contest 2016 - Unser Lied für Stockholm'' show on German television. This is the highest number of viewers for a German ESC qualification round since 2010, the year in which Lena won. The market share was 13.8 percent, which is also the best value in six years. 1.46 million viewers aged 14 to 49 watched on average (market share: 12.3%). The peak was 5.85 million. Nearly 1.9 million votes were submitted via telephone, SMS, and app including 770,809 in the first round and 1,120,159 in the second.

The winner of the German qualification round for 2016 is Jamie-Lee Kriewitz. 44.5 percent of the TV viewers voted for the 17-year-old from Hanover in the second round. 33.9 percent favoured Alex Diehl and 21.6 percent voted for Avantasia. These three were chosen from a total of ten acts to enter the second round. Barbara Schöneberger hosted the two-hour live show in Cologne. The interval act was The BossHoss featuring The Common Linnets after the ten participants in the ESC qualification round had presented their songs.

The German qualification round included Avantasia, Alex Diehl, Ella Endlich, Gregorian, Jamie-Lee Kriewitz, Joco, Keøma, Laura Pinski, Luxuslärm and Woods of Birnam. They all presented their songs in the live "Eurovision Song Contest 2016 – Unser Lied für Stockholm" show on Thursday, the 25th of February at 8:15 pm on the German television channel, Das Erste. The television viewers chose their favourites in two rounds. Voting was carried out by telephone, SMS, and for the first time also using the official Eurovision app.
