Roman Lob was born on July 2, 1990 in Dusseldorf. He spent his childhood and youth with his family in Neustadt/Wied. Here, after completing secondary school, he trained as an industrial mechanic.

In January 2012, 22-year-old Roman entered “Unser Star für Baku” [Our Star for Baku], the German preliminary round for the “Eurovision Song Contest 2012”. In the selection shows he performed, among other songs, “After Tonight” by Justin Nozuka, “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon and “Day By Day” by his own band Rooftop Kingdom.

With the song “Standing Still” penned by Jamie Cullum, Roman triumphed in the “Unser Star für Baku” finals on February 16, 2012. “Standing Still” shot straight to number 1 in the iTunes charts and number 3 in the German singles charts.

Roman Lob represented Germany at the “Eurovision Song Contest” in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, on May 26, 2012 with his song "Standing Still". He was rewarded with the 8th place. Thereby Germany managed to be in the Top Ten at the “Eurovision Song Contest” three times in a row.

Roman Lob: "The Top Ten were my goal - I'm superhappy. I had such a great time here. I'm very proud that I got points from so many different countries. The “Eurovision Song Contest” in Baku was like a school trip - only without arguments. To be on such a huge stage and to be able to perform in front of 120 million people - this is something every musician wants."

For two years Roman worked intensively on his second album “Home” that was released on July 25, 2014. In that time he had a lot of performances in various clubs and on summer festivals. Thomas D was during the album production as a mentor always on his side. In the future one will certainly hear a lot more from him!
